NEBULA / CHANGELOG

What’s new in Nebula

Documentation for Minecraft 1.21.1 · NeoForge

0.1.0-alpha.7Latest releaseOctober 5, 2026

Crafting preview

The preview now displays a five-column item grid. Each output shows its icon, name and quantity, including intermediate products and coproducts. Identical outputs are grouped; scrolling and exact tooltips remain available.

Nebula Storage

The mod is now named Nebula Storage, with the N S logo and dev.nebulastorage packages. Existing worlds keep their nexus_storage identifiers and saved data. Remove the older mod JAR before updating. Addons must be recompiled against the new packages. The /nebula and /nebulaaccess commands are available alongside their existing aliases.

Installation

Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.194 or later within 21.1, and Java 21. Back up your world and install the same version on clients and server. KotlinForForge is not required; an existing modpack copy can remain installed. The Kotlin standard library is bundled. A compatible installed Ponder is used when available; otherwise the official bundled fallback is used. This is an Alpha release.

Network setup

A new network has no built-in crafting table. Install a real table in the Server, or place one against the marked face of an External Interface. Removing the last table removes that crafting capability.

Hover over the connection status in the header for the power diagnosis. External FE enters through the Controller’s electrical socket; also check that the Server has a suitable PSU.

Display and placement

Settings lets you choose a Nebula interface size of 75%, 100%, 125% or 150%. It applies to Nebula screens only and is limited by the space available on your display. Minecraft’s GUI scale stays unchanged. Player inventory slots are larger and remain centred.

The Terminal’s decorative screen stays dark when it has no powered network.

The inventory item shows a straight cable. Black junctions with cyan accents appear on isolated cables and branches with three or more connections; straight runs and bends remain smooth.

Grass, flowers and saplings inside the reserved footprint are cleared when an array is placed. Solid obstacles, fluids and blocks with stored data still prevent placement.

Creative breaking no longer drops a portable machine, including when breaking a secondary part of a Server or solar array. The Controller and solar arrays now use the same square FE socket.

Information Panels

Adjacent panels form one display, up to 6 × 6 blocks. Write formatted text, insert item images and link counters to network stock. Bold, italic, colours, alignment, text selection and undo/redo are available. JEI ingredients can be dragged into the document.

The editor keeps %tokens% visible while the preview shows their values: network name, real time, world time, energy and active jobs. E types normally instead of closing the editor. Existing documents are preserved when panels are joined or separated.

Solar arrays and monitoring

Solar interfaces now show both buffer and output history. A large frame-rate drop when aiming at folded arrays has been fixed. Monitor widgets can be dragged directly from a taller library; filter-button labels stay aligned when their value changes.

Demo and updating

New Nebula Storage Demo worlds contain illustrated explanations adapted to each exhibit. Existing worlds are not rebuilt. Back up your world and use the same Nebula version on clients and server. Existing panel text is migrated automatically. KotlinForForge, Ponder and Flywheel are included.

Storage, creatures and access

Capture and release creatures with the dedicated blocks or portable tablet. Equipment and individual data are preserved; display grouping is configurable. Network owners can grant Operator, Contributor or Observer access from the Terminal settings.

New fluid and chemical tanks hold 10,000 mB each and work with External Storage. Transfer ports connect from the sides. External Storage has operation and redstone controls, without a resource filter. Empty Nebula tanks before breaking them.

Production and progression

More Vanilla and Mekanism recipes are supported, including factories, fluids and chemicals. Specific machines from other industrial mods can be connected through an External Interface. Mekanism radioactive chemicals and recipes with uncertain outputs are not supported. Consult the integration guide for the machines and conditions that apply to your modpack.

Fluorite, scheelite and tantalite supply new electronics materials. New deposits appear in newly generated terrain. Existing terrain is preserved.

Interface and demonstration

Updated interfaces, font and icon preferences, grouped settings, fluid withdrawal into buckets and chemical containers, remembered searches and optional JEI search synchronization. A new Nebula Storage Demo world type presents the blocks on a white-concrete exhibition floor.

Solar tracking stops at 15° above the horizon without changing its efficiency calculation. Model seams, animations and monitoring history have also been improved.

Updating

Back up your world and install the same version on clients and server. Older networks without an owner stay public until an administrator assigns one. Create a new Demo world to see the exhibition. KotlinForForge, Ponder and Flywheel are included; integration mods remain optional.

Interfaces and solar arrays

Seven generations of rectangular solar arrays, smooth folding and tracking, and faster rendering during deployment. Sharper fonts, combinable resource filters, centred player inventories and revised local machine interfaces.

Importer, Exporter and External Storage support manual activation and Ignore, High, Low or Pulse-toggle redstone modes. Their cable connections use the same appearance as Nebula cables. Search accepts combined @mod and #tag terms.

Updating from older versions

Storage Core, Capability Storage, Energy Core, Energy Inlet, the fixed Monitoring Screen and old demonstration machines have been removed. If your world contains them, use the previous version to empty and remove them before updating. A world containing these old identifiers will be refused rather than losing its contents. Always keep a backup and do not downgrade a world saved by a newer version.

KotlinForForge, Ponder and Flywheel are included. Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge and Java 21 are required.

Included dependencies

KotlinForForge 5.10.0 is now included alongside Ponder and Flywheel. No separate installation of these three libraries is required.

Requires Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge and Java 21. Place the Nebula JAR in the mods folder and use the same version on client and server.

First alpha release

The first downloadable Nebula Storage release for Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge and Java 21.

This older version requires a separate KotlinForForge 5.10.0 installation. Ponder and Flywheel are included. Back up your world before updating.
